Differnces in Foods

There are also differences in the food. One of the main differences I saw was that there is little to no meat or chicken served. I believe this is because the cattle is mostly used to produce milk to make cheese, which is what the country is known for. One of the main reasons I think that is because while we were driving to the various places on our journey we did not see cattle on the side of the highway. That is completely different that in the united states, no matter where you are going if you are on the highway you will more than likely see cattle.
If there is meat it has been cured or dried. This meat is then displayed in a manner that would never be see in the US. The ham is displayed dried and intact with hoof and all. I have never seen that in the states not even at the butcher. I believe one of the most disturbing things about it was that at one point the butcher put the entire leg on the slicer. In the United States people do not like to know exactly where their meat is coming from. They would not want to see that nor know how the animal was killed.
