1. A map - It helps ensure where I am and where I want to go. It is scary to be lost in a foreign city with people who do not speak my language.
2. A Tour book- It has made sure I get the most out of each city that I have been to. I always want to make sure that I am experience the most I can out of each place I visit.
3. A good camera with sufficient memory and battery- I have never left home without it, I want to make sure I don't miss any good photo ops! Mom would be mad!
4. Sunscreen- The main reason for the sunscreen is to avoid the AWFUL farmers tan! Once I get back home I am going to need to layout to get rid of all of my different tan lines.
5. Refillable water bottle- This one thing has saved me so much money! It is something so simple but in the long run worth carrying around. Each bottle of water can cost up to €2, which is about $3.00.
6. Deodorant- No matter where I went I was sure there was going to be a lot of walking so I wanted to be sure to stay fresh!
7. Pillow and a blanket- Sleep is essential on a trip like this. I wanted to be sure I was fully awake for all of the sights I went to see. Going to these sights involved several long bus rides. I was able to be comfortable enough of the bus to sleep and not be tired when we arrived!
8. Sunglasses- It is always a smart idea to have sunglasses but in Italy they have been even more important!
9. Hand sanitizer- It was a life saver a few times!
10. Sperrys or walking shoes- It would be imposibble to go on a trip like this with flip flops. My Sperrys have been so helpful!
11. Pen and paper- you never know when you are going to hear something interesting that you will want to remember forever. My notebook contains random lists, places I want to visit, places I have loved and places I want to go again.
