Dublin- Free weekend!!!
This is the group of us that went to Dublin on our free weekend! We decided to go a free walking tour this morning to get to see some of the sights in Dublin.
This is a sign that I would never expect to see in the US but they were in several shops in Dublin. The first time I saw it was at a coffee shop. "The management reserve the right to refuse service"
A picture in front of Dublin Castle! You can't really see the castle but the gate is pretty.
Some more of Dublin's sights. The walking tour we took was amazing! It was a unique view of the city with great explanations of its history and sights.
Part of the original Dublin Castle. It had be burnt down a few hundred years ago and this is only of the only parts that remains of the original. This is part of the chapel.
A beautiful day in the gardens of Dublin Castle. The weather was a bit chilly but it didn't rain, which is rare in Ireland!
Christ Church Cathedral. This is the main Catholic Church in Dublin. We thought St. Patrick's Cathedral would be a Catholic Church. Sunday morning we decided we would go to mass at St. Patrick's. Half way through the service we all realized it was different than what we were used to, the wording and timing was off. After taking a better look at the program it was not Catholic. At least we tried!!
Another view of Christ Church Cathedral.
A really pretty archway! We were so lucky to be taking the walking tour in such beautiful level!
The Temple Bar! This is one of the most famous bars in the world. It is always packed with tourists. The downside to popular bars like this is that it was very expensive and it is very easy to lose the people you are with.
The River Liffy divides the north and the south side of Dublin. This division is not only a physical division but also an economic division of the city.
Monica and I at the River Liffy enjoying the tour and an Irish Coffee!
The Spire is the tallest sculpture in the world. It is really helpful because I could always tell where I was when I saw it. It was especially helpful at night so we could find out way home, the top lights up.
Trinity College is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Not only do the students receive a great education they also study on a beautiful campus.
Stephen's Green is a park in the middle of the city. It has some of the prettiest views in the city. Everything was so green and relaxing. It is amazing to think something so beautiful could be smack in the middle of such a busy city.
